United Trust Event Report

Friday 09th July 2004: Fourth Annual Golf Challenge

Another wonderful day of Golf, chatter, excellent company and super prizes saw the 4th Annual CCUIST Golf Day take place at Eden Golf Course, Nr Carlisle. There wasn't the blistering heat of last year but 27 teams took to the course and with the top ten teams all being in the 90 plus region there was some wonderful golf played.

A special thanks goes to Wayne Cunliffe who very kindly donated prizes for this event he also travelled from Belgium to take part in the days golf, take in the Kendal game and the AGM of the Trust. Thanks Wayne and look forward to seeing you at the first game of the season.

For the second year running The Beavers sponsored by Charme Beauty Salon in Denton Holme took first prize. The team were Jim Robinson, Brian Richardson, David Storey and Joe Smith. Second was the Alan Irving Construction team of Alan Irving, Chris Ward, Keith Harris and Bob McCartney. Third was the long time leaders Denton Holme Conservative Club of Colin Waddell, Neil Ayre, Chris Small and Malcolm Turner, this team also won for its captain the best dressed team of the day which was chosen by Hughie McIlmoyle much to the displeasure of his former team captain Peter McConnell who felt he should have been awarded that prize.

Prizes were awarded to 10 place in 4th was the team entered by Fred Story Construction who jointly sponsored the event with Pirelli. Nicholson Consultancy was 5th with the Alan Ross Memorial Team in 6th place. 7th was the team from P. K. Electricials who have entered every year that this event has taken place and were the winners in the first year. Pirelli were 8th with one of the 3 teams from CUFC taking 9th place. Carlisle Squash Rackets were the 10 team and individual prizes were awarded for the longest drive and nearest the pin on 4 holes. Hughie McIlmoyle and Paul Simpson presented the prizes.
